Android 5.1 update will let you securely surf even on Public Wi-Fi


With privacy concerns is in everyone's mind theses days, it would be no surprise that Google VPN service is tweaked into the  new Android 5.1 lollipop.

VPN or Virtual Private Network will help you keeps your data secure when you're on Public Wi-Fi. The VPN service is now available on latest version of Android, there is strong probability that Google will make it a standard feature.

Pocketables was the first to discovered a new system app called "Google Connectivity services" on a Nexus 6 running latest Android 5.1. This app can be located in the Settings> Apps. However the 4.92MB app can't be launched by tapping on it. Users will see a pop-up displaying Google VPN and reads "to help protect you on open Wi-Fi networks, your data will be transmitted securely through a Google VPN."when it launch. However this feature is not currently functional but it's a clear indication that Google is working on a VPN service for Android.
