Samsung Galaxy S6 Active with 5.1 inch QHD display amd IP68 certification announced

After making an online appearance, Samsung Elec. made the Galaxy S6 active official. It's the ruggedized version of the company's 2015 flagship. The phone has been launched in the US and will be available exclusively through carrier AT&T.

The phone will be available in camo white, camo blue and grey colours at an off-contract price of $695 (Rs 44,300 approximately). It is dustproof, shock- and water-resistant, and the rugged design boats of an IP68 rating (submersible up to 1.5 m of water for up to 30 minutes).

Just like the Galaxy S6, the active sports a 5.1-inch Quad-HD (1440x2560p) Super AMOLED display protected by Cornering Gorilla Glass 4. It's powered by the same octa-core Exynos 7420 processor and 3GB RAM, and comes with 32GB of internal storage. The phone packs 3500mAH battery and gives up to 23hrs of talktime on 3G network.

The Galaxy S6 active sports a 16MP rear facing camera and a 5MP front facing camera. It packs in a 3500mAh battery and features embedded wireless charging technology.

The phone runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and comes with Activity Zone that includes a quick launching compass app, flashlight, stopwatch, and other related outdoor activity essentials.

In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 3G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. There's no word on the India availability and pricing of the phone yet
