Sony Xperia Z3+ aka Z4 launched at $899 (approx Rs. 55,900)

Sony has launched its new flagship smartphone, Xperia Z3+ or Z4 at $899 (approx Rs 55,990). The phone is already on sale via e-commerce sites and retail stores and will be available in black, white, copper and aqua green colors.

The Xperia Z3+ was announced late-May. The model had earlier been launched in Japan as Xperia Z4, but Sony renamed it as Xperia Z3+ for the international release.

Among the major improvements of Xperia Z3+ over its predecessor is the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor . The smartphone also comes with Android 5.0 (Lollipop) out of the box. The phone is very thinner (6.9mm vs 7.3mm) and lighter (144 grams vs 152 grams) than the 2014 Sony flagship.

Sony Xperia Z3+ comes with a 25mm wide-angle 5.1MP front camera for better selfies, compared to the 2.2MP front camera of Xperia Z3. The front facing snapper now has superior auto mode for selfies, including soft snap, night portrait, backlight portrait and infant.

While the microUSB port is not covered by a flap in the new model, it still carries the IP68 rating for resistant against water and dust, likely due to a nano coating. Though Sony has reduced the battery capacity of Xperia Z3+ compared to Xperia Z3 (2,930mAh vs 3,100mAh), it claims that the new smartphone offers up to two days of battery life.

Unlike Xperia Z3, which came with 16 and 32GB storage options, the new Sony smartphone comes in only 32GB capacity.

Despite these differences, the new model is considered a minor update over Xperia Z3 as the two share many features. Xperia Z3+ has a 5.2-inch Full HD (1080p) IPS screen and glass-and-metal body; the glass used in the smartphone is shatterproof, according to Sony.

Similarly, both smartphones have 3GB of RAM, support microSD cards of up to 128GB capacities and have 20.7MP rear cameras. Both smartphones also have the same connectivity features: 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and microUSB 2.0.

OnePlus Two featuring USB Type C to be arrive on July 27

OnePlus has finally revealed the launch date of its upcoming flagship smartphone, OnePlus 2. The successor to popular smartphone One Plus One will be unveiled next month on July 27.

For this, OnePlus has engineered its own custom "cardboard" VR headsets something similar to what Google offers. Earlier, OnePlus confirmed it would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor version 2.1. "Although there have been reports that the 810 runs warmer than its predecessors, we assure you that we have taken all the necessary precautions and beyond to prevent this from occurring in the 2. We worked very closely with Qualcomm's engineers to integrate an improved version of the chipset (v2.1) in the OnePlus 2, and fine-tuned both hardware and software.

Apple launches iOS 9: features, news and how to test beta version on your iPhone

Apple on Tuesday announced several new software features as part of its annual update of mobile operating system iOS that powers the company's iconic iPhones and iPads.

iOS 9, the next version of the software that powers Apple's mobile devices, will support iPhone 4S and above, iPad 2 and above, all iPad mini models, and iPod touch fifth-generation. Starting from July, anyone can sign up on Apple's website to try the beta version of iOS 9 before it is officially released to the general public.

With iOS 9 launch, iPad finally gets the much-needed support for multiple apps on same screen with iOS 9 like open two apps via drag-and-drop in 50:50 or 70:30 format. Samsung, as well as other Android device makers, have allowed users to open two or more apps on the same screen for the past three years.

Apple Maps, which the company claims is used 3.5 times more on iOS than any other mapping app like Google Maps, will now get transit directions. One neat feature of the Maps app is that it will show 'multi-modal routing'; this feature will, for example, show if a single station allows passengers to switch from buses to inter-city trains to metro trains.

Location cards in Apple Maps will also show if any restaurant or other stores support Apple Pay.

Apple has also decided to take on Flipboard and Google's Play Newsstand to launch its own News app to provide personalized content to users. The Apple News apps will curate content only from sources that the user selects, but customize the content into its own format for "beautiful" presentation. Like Flipboard, Apple News will also have an Explore tab featuring recommended topics and publications. It will be initially rolled out in the US, UK and Australia.

Apple also announced that iOS 9's new low-power mode will give iPhones and iPads an additional 3 hours of battery life.

The company has made the Notes app in iOS 9 more functional by taking cues from Samsung's S Note. Instead of just typing in Notes, users can now draw in the app, make checklists and add photos.

iPhone and iPad users will also heave a huge sigh of relief as Apple has reduced the free space needed for installing iOS 9 from 4.6GB to 1.8GB. Last year, Apple had received a lot of flak from all quarters for the iOS 8 update taking up too much space for the install files.

Apple also announced that its mobile payments platform Apple Pay will soon be available in the UK starting July and will be supported by eight more banks. The company has also renamed its Passbook app to Wallet.

Facebook launches new 'Lite' version app which uses less storage and bandwidth for emerging markets

Facebook Inc rolled out a new Android app for its social media service that uses less data and runs faster in regions with spotty connections.

The app, called Facebook Lite, is available in countries across Asia and will soon make its way to parts of Latin America, Africa and Europe, Vijay Shankar, product manager for Facebook Lite, said in an interview. In many of those countries, people still use 2G networks, which are much slower and have less power than the 4G networks in many developed nations.

"We want to offer people a choice so if there are limitations, they can still get the full Facebook experience," Shankar said.

The app uses less than one-half of a megabyte of data to limit data usage and rates for those in emerging markets. While it still supports Facebook's News Feed, status updates, notifications and photos, it does not support videos and advanced location services.

Facebook Lite is part of the world's largest social media network's expansion into emerging markets. Earlier this year, chief executive Mark Zuckerberg announced Internet.org, a platform developed with six technology partners to connect 4.5 billion people with no current access to the Internet.

Apple's next iPhone will be released on Sep 25 , leaked by Vodafone employee

There were many rumours that the next iPhone will be revealed in the mid of the July before its all time releasing schedule but all the rumours were fake. The next iPhone will arrive right on schedule. A leak has revealed a not-so-shocking revelation: iPhone 6S is reportedly releasing in September, just like the last three flagship releases.

Mobile News is reporting that an email leaked to the news firm confirms that the next gen iPhone, presumably iPhone 6S, is coming on September 25, and not a month early as previously rumoured.  The report also says that the handset, rumored to boast Force Touch, is described as the "New iPhone," which is most likely a level of secrecy within the email and not the actual name of the device. Although with the Cupertino company's latest New Macbook release, it isn't out of the question.

In addition to Force Touch, iPhone 6S is rumored to feature the sapphire glass screens that missed the cut on iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, as well as an upgraded camera. If this report is true, all of our questions and more will be answered when September rolls around.

Android 5.1.1 lolllipop finally rolling out to Motorola Moto X, Moto G and Moto E2 4G LTe

Google is now rushing the rollout of Android 5.1 Lollipop to Android devices especially with its recent announcement that Android M, its upcoming mobile operating system, would soon be arriving in the third quarter of this year.

In addition to the Android 5.1 Lollipop, the American multinational technology company is also hastening the release of the latest and most likely the last firmware update Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on other more advanced Android devices in order to free its plate from any other mobile OS.

Reports from multiple sources claim that the most recent Android 5.1.1 version will become available for the Moto X 1st & 2nd Gen, Moto G 1st & 2nd Gen, Moto E 2nd Gen with 4G capability in the end of the June.

There have been reports of 2014 Moto devices in selected areas already receiving the Android 5.1.1 update, with the Latino Post recently reporting that the latest version was made available in Brazil.

The new 2015 Moto X is expected to run on the upcoming Android M. With the new handset to be released in a little less than three months, users have already assumed that the Android 5.1.1 version will be ready for download across all Motorola platforms before the 2015 Moto X is released.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop updates on the Motorola Moto smartphones also include native support for more than one SIM-card that works well for mobile phones with dual-SIM card slots.

Since the updates will come over-the-air (OTA), owners of these Motorola Moto smartphones should regularly check the settings of their handsets to see if the system updates are already available for download.

A new $2.50 gadget called Batteriser can extend battery life upto 800%

A US-based newly established firm claims to have developed a new $2.50 device that can extend a disposable battery's lifespan by 800% and the gadget will be on the market this year.

The device increases any disposable battery's lifespan by keeping its voltage boosted to just above what most appliances consider 'dead'.

The 0.1 mm thick gadget dubbed 'Batteriser' is a stainless steel sleeve that a user can clip onto any battery. It can fit into any kind of device, including TV remotes, torches, bluetooth keyboards, and console controllers.

A new alkaline battery is able to generate 1.5 Volts for some time, but as soon as its voltage drops to 1.4 Volts or below, most devices write it off as dead, 'Science Alert' reported.

When a user throws out what they think are spent batteries, they are actually throwing out something that still has 80 per cent of its energy left inside and that's where the new voltage booster technology comes into play.

"The Batteriser has boost circuitry that will boost the voltage from 0.6 volts to 1.5 volts and will maintain voltage at 1.5 -- which is a brand new battery," electrical engineer Bob Roohparvar, from the company Batteroo, told PCWorld.

Samsung working on 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch version of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge model

Samsung Electronics may announce a mini and giant version of it's most popular smartphone Galaxy S6. The so called Galaxy S6 Mini and Galaxy S6 Plus would essentially be a smaller but powerful version of Galaxy S6 and the mega version of Galaxy S6 Edge.

4.6-inch Galaxy S6 Mini

GSMArena breaks the news of the smaller S6 variant via a new unexpected arrival on the GFX Benchmark database – the Samsung ‘SM-G9198’.

GFX is widely used to test Android handsets. It logs the data on all models that pass through it, making them publicly available and what stands out about the G9198 is its iPhone 6 comparable screen size and resolution, backed up with the same premium Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset as used successfully in the LG G4.

The former is nothing new. Samsung has long had ‘Mini’ versions of its Galaxy S range, but this appears to be the first time it is making the effort to match Apple’s smaller iPhone by giving it premium specs which includes a 15MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and 2GB of RAM. . This makes what could well be the new ‘Galaxy S6 Mini’ a major step up and the combination of the Snapdragon 808 and a 768p display means it should fly.

Galaxy S6 Plus

Samsung will supposedly announce the phone in the coming weeks, and it's being called "Project Zero 2" internally. Samsung codenamed the original Galaxy S6 "Project Zero." The S6 Plus will reportedly have a 5.4 or 5.5-inch curved screen, making it about the same size as the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.

Other than its screen size, it sounds like the S6 Plus will essentially be a clone of the S6 Edge -- it has the same screen resolution, the same camera, and it will likely have a design that's very similar. Blog Sam Mobile, which has a strong record when it comes to reporting on unreleased Samsung devices, also reports that the phone will come with 32GB of storage space.

This isn't the first time Samsung has released a giant version of its flagship phone. Last year, the company unveiled a larger version of the Galaxy S5 known as the Galaxy S5 Plus

Microsoft to launch Lumia 640XL with IRIS scanning tech and Win10

U.S based company Microsoft is rumourd to launch flagship device called Lumia 940XL which will pack iris scanning tech for the security of your data.

The Lumia 940 XL is said to pack a 5.7-inch QHD (2560x1440) display powered by octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 20MP rear camera, 5MP front snapper, microSD slot and a slim, metallic unibody design.

That would see it comfortably compete with the Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One M9, LG G4 and Sony Xperia Z3+.

The report also suggests the 940 XL will pack iris scanning tech (for what we assume will be added security) and a USB-C slot, allowing you to plug your charger in either way, much like Apple's Lightning connector.

It's also expected to arrive with Windows 10 on board. The main reason we've not seen any top-flight handsets running Microsoft's software over the past few months is because manufacturers are waiting for the new version to arrive.

There's no word on when the handset may launch, but with Microsoft confirming Windows 10 will land on July 29, a smartphone launch could well coincide.

Moleskin launches beautiful Calender app- TimePage for Apple Watch and iPhone

Moleskine's journals aren't inevitable better than other journals, but their sleek style and purported history makes writers want to use them. Now, Moleskine is trying something similar with calendars and launch a TimePage calendar app, rather than a physical book. That app is called TimePage, and it's being released today. At least from the look of its photos, TimePage appears to be a gorgeous, minimalistic, and helpful calendar with design elements that feel like they could have been lifted out of a notebook page. A companion Apple Watch app is being released, too.

Minimalistic apps have a bad habit of being less useful and more confusing by nature of their design. TimePage appears to borrow the same type of simplicity from the to-do list app Clear, relying on swipes and gestures to accomplish most tasks. The benefit is that each page is filled with stark, bright colors and cleanly presented text, which looks great on a phone.

Apparently working off of the idea of a notebook page, TimePage doesn't have a monthly overview as it just displays a list of the coming days and moreover it won't even hide days that you don't have events in. They'll just show up, empty or filled with historical information. That alone could make TimePage a nonstarter for a lot of people who rely on mobile calendar apps for scheduling and planning.

The app gets a bit more detailed when you pull up a specific event. If the event has a location associated with it, TimePage will display a map of the area, information on how long it'll take to get there, and what the weather is like nearby. It integrates with Uber, too, allowing you to hail a car. The Watch app displays some of this same information, including your upcoming events and the weather.

TimePage is already gone live in the App Store for $4.99. At the very least, aspirational calendar users should be excited to try it out.

Google launches Smart lock password manager for Android and Chrome to make sign-in accounts easier

Google has launched a password manager for Android and Chrome called Smart Lock for Passwords. While the feature was not showcased during the Google I/O keynote session, it has been listed on Google's developer pages under Google Identity Platform.

According to Google, with Smart Lock for Passwords, users will be able to sign-in and sign-up into apps on Android and sites in Chrome in a smooth way with any account. Users will get automatically signed-in across devices.

Once users save a password to Smart Lock through an app or site on one device, they will not need to enter login credentials on all of their Chrome and Android devices for that app when signed-in with the same Google account.

This, as per Google, will reduce the risk of forgotten user passwords. Netflix, The New York Times, Instacart and Eventbrite are some of the services that will support the feature. Unlike password managers like LastPass, the system will not work with all apps and developers will need to integrate the feature through Google's API.

The feature is part of Google Play services 7.5 which means users will not have to wait for the release of Android M to use it.
