Blackberry's upcoming Android phone leaked

Acc to recent reports, a purported render of BlackBerry's Android-powered slider smartphone, Venice, has appeared online.

The person behind the popular account @evleaks posted a picture that features a part of the display of the phone along with a Blackberry Passport-like three row keypad. He also posted that the BlackBerry Venice slider will soon be available on US carrier AT&T.

But BlackBerry and Google had refused to comment on the matter.

The phone's screen pictured in the leaked render even features the three Android navigation buttons making the claim appear more convincing.

As per a Reuters report, BlackBerry is considering equipping an upcoming smartphone with Google's Android software.The move to use Android is part of BlackBerry's strategy to pivot to focus on software and device management, it said. The report had suggested that BlackBerry will probably use Android on an upcoming slider device that is likely to be released this autumn, citing sources. The slider is likely to combine a touch screen with a physical keyboard, similar to BlackBerry's Passport phone.

According to recent rumours, the Venice, is a slider devicefirst announced at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona. It's expected to sport a 5.4-inch QHD display, an 18MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera and will be powered by a 64-bit 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexacore processor and 3GB RAM. BlackBerry is expected to release the phone by November 2015.

Over the last few months, Google owned YouTube launched both 60fps video on the desktop and for live video streams. Starting today, you can also watch the service’s smooth 60fps videos in Youtube's iOS and Android apps.

Given that these video streams were already available on YouTube’s other main platforms, it was only a matter of time before Google brought this feature to mobile, too. According to a YouTube spokesperson”, 60fps YouTube is now available on the desktop, Apple TV and the PlayStation 3 and 4 consoles.

60fps video may seem like overkill — and some people definitely prefer 30 or 24fps for their video experiences, especially when it comes to movies about hobbits. Gamers, however, tend to aim for a 60fps experience and so it’s no surprise that there is already plenty of compatible game videos on YouTube today. Those games, after all, were made to be seen at a high frame rate already.

Now that a lot of consumer cameras also support high frame rate  recordings, though, there is also quite a bit of other content available in both 720p60 and 1080p60, as well as a number of commercial releases.

Earlier this year, YouTube also introduced support for 60fps 4K video. That’s probably a bit much for even the most modern of smartphones (that kind of resolution tends to push most desktops to its limit, after all), but most modern phones should be able to easily cope with these new 60fps streams.

So when is the best time to post on Facebook? On weekdays during working hours, and then again between 7 pm and 8 pm, suggests the study conducted by Lithium Technologies, Bustle.com reported. 

On the weekends there's a major drop-off in reactions. Hence, if you are really feeling yourself on Friday evening, wait to post that photo on until Monday afternoon. 

"The probability that an audience member reacts to a message may depend on several factors, such as his daily and weekly behaviour patterns, his location or timezone, and the volume of other messages competing for his attention," said researchers who conducted the study.

The US cities of San Francisco and New York exhibit similar shapes, where reactions peak at the beginning of work hours, the study said. 

For Paris, the reactions peak in the second half of working hours, while for London most reactions are expected towards the end of working hours. 

"This is important for businesses which are trying to connect with consumers in different areas, or if your new social media crush lives halfway across the globe," the researchers said. 

Also, if you want immediate gratification, Twitter might be the way to go. The study found that it sees bigger peaks in usage, has twice the chance of eliciting responses, and reaction times are much faster compared to Facebook. 

On Facebook it takes up to two hours for the first half of the responses to come in; on Twitter, however, most responses come within half an hour. 

The researchers then took their data set, which held timestamps from a huge number of posts (144 million, to be precise) and reactions (1.1 billion) over a 120-day period, and analyzed it using Klout.

Meizu MX5 launched with FHD AMOLED display, fingerprint scanner, octa-core processor and 3GB Ram at $285

China based electronics company Meizu has launched its new flagship smartphone, MX5, in its home market at a starting price of 1800 yuan ( $285 approx).

The Meizu MX5 sports an all-metal body and features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1920x1080p) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The phone has a finger-print sensor embedded with its Home button. It weighs 149gram and is 7.6mm thick.

It is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helios X10 processor (ARM cortex A53) driven by PowerVR G6200 graphics backed by 3GB RAM with 16, 32 and 64GB storage variant running Android 5.0 lollipop with Flyme 4.5 UI on the top.

Meizu MX5 features a 20MP rear camera with a Sony IMX220 sensor and dual-LED flash and laser focus and a 5MP front camera. The rear camera supports 4K video capture.

The phone has a 3150mAh battery and comes with Meizu's mCharge fast charging technology. In terms of connectivity, the dual-sim phone supports 4G (both FDD-LTE and TD-LTE), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS.

Meizu is expected to introduce the phone in India but has not revealed the launch date and pricing information.

Make in India: After Samsung, now HTC to setup manufacturing unit in India

HTC has finalised its 'Make in India' plans and becomes the second major global smartphone maker to produce handsets in the country, after Samsung Electronics.

The Taiwanese premium smartphone maker has entered into an agreement with Global Devices Network, which set up a manufacturing and assembling unit three months ago in Noida, to make the handsets on contract.

Three senior executives of HTC said that, "Trials have already begun and commercial production is expected to start from mid-July initially catering to HTC's requirements in India."

An email sent to HTC India did not get any response till Monday press time. Global Devices Network managing director Nitesh Gupta confirmed the company is in talks to start commercial assembling of HTC smartphones, which should be finalised by next month. "It's a contract manufacturing agreement," he said, declining to share further details.

Global Devices Network already produces smartphones for Zen mobiles and is in talks with other device sellers. The company distributes Samsung smartphones, manufactures mobile phone accessories, invests in companies that distribute HTC smartphones and runs a cellphone retail chain.

HTC smartphones made in India will initially range from its entry-level to mid-segment devices, priced between Rs 10,000 and about Rs 25,000, which are sold under the 'Desire' series. It will set up its quality control unit in the contract manufacturer's plant. The company not yet plan to assemble its flagship 'HTC One' series smartphones in India.
