Google owned YouTube rumoured to have a subscription option for it's best original content.
According to The Verge "The video sharing website is exploring to launch it's own Subscription VOD service. By launching a subscription service, YouTube will be going up established against video-on-demand services such as Hulu, Vimeo and Netflix, some of which offer exclusive content and paid ad-free viewing options.
The subscription will offer users add free streaming of unlimited videos for a set monthly fee.
This service is set to be based on the previously launched YouTube Music Key beta which allow users to watch music videos without adds for £9.99/month. However this service was delayed for some reasons.
YouTube has recently announced a raft of updates to it's creator tools such as 'Audio library', 'YouTube Creator Studoo' and 'Fan Funding'. However some creators still claim it is difficult to make money on the platform. But by bringing in paid subscription service YouTube wild not only able to offer more money to content creators but also strengthen its bottom line.
