Android 5.1.1 lolllipop finally rolling out to Motorola Moto X, Moto G and Moto E2 4G LTe

Google is now rushing the rollout of Android 5.1 Lollipop to Android devices especially with its recent announcement that Android M, its upcoming mobile operating system, would soon be arriving in the third quarter of this year.

In addition to the Android 5.1 Lollipop, the American multinational technology company is also hastening the release of the latest and most likely the last firmware update Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on other more advanced Android devices in order to free its plate from any other mobile OS.

Reports from multiple sources claim that the most recent Android 5.1.1 version will become available for the Moto X 1st & 2nd Gen, Moto G 1st & 2nd Gen, Moto E 2nd Gen with 4G capability in the end of the June.

There have been reports of 2014 Moto devices in selected areas already receiving the Android 5.1.1 update, with the Latino Post recently reporting that the latest version was made available in Brazil.

The new 2015 Moto X is expected to run on the upcoming Android M. With the new handset to be released in a little less than three months, users have already assumed that the Android 5.1.1 version will be ready for download across all Motorola platforms before the 2015 Moto X is released.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop updates on the Motorola Moto smartphones also include native support for more than one SIM-card that works well for mobile phones with dual-SIM card slots.

Since the updates will come over-the-air (OTA), owners of these Motorola Moto smartphones should regularly check the settings of their handsets to see if the system updates are already available for download.

Micromax launched a successor to Canvas A1 smartphone, the Canvas AQ4502 with 8GB internal storage

Indian handset maker Micromax has launched a successor to the Canvas A1 AQ4501 smartphone, the Canvas AQ4502. The smartphone has been priced at Rs 6,039.
 
The new Canvas A1 AQ4502 handset features a 4.5-inch (480x854p) IPS display. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6582 SoC processor boasted by 1 GB RAM. It comes with 8GB of built-in storage with the expandability up to 32GB via microSD card.

Micromax Canvas A1 AQ4502 sports a 5MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front facing camera. It packs 1,700mAh battery which offers 160 hours of standby time and 6 hours of talk time.

The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, the latest Android version offered by Google. On connectivity front, the dual sim smartphone offers 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0 and A-GPS connectivity.

Compared to its predecessor Canvas A1 AQ4501, Micromax's latest handset has twice the internal storage (8GB), while the rest of the features remain the same.

Sony launches Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4

Sony has launched Xperia M4 Aqua, its mid-range water and dust resistant smartphone at Rs 24,990. The company has also launched Xperia C4 selfie focused smartphone. Xperia M4 Aqua will be available starting today, while Xperia C4 will launch in mid-June. Both the smartphones feature dual-sim support.

Unveiled at MWC 2015 in Barcelona earlier this year, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua has a 5-inch HD (1280x720) IPS LCD scratch resistant display. The phone weighs 136gm and measures 145.5mm x 72.6mm x 7.3mm.

It is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa core processor driven by Adreno 405 graphics backed by 2GB of RAM running Android 5.0 lollipop and 8GB of internal storage with expandable storage upto 32GB.

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua sports a 13MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a wide-angle 5MP secondary camera for improved selfies. The smartphone is water-proof and dust-proof, and also has a cap-less microUSB port.

In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n dual-band, Bluetooth 4.1,NFC, USB v2.0 and GPS. The smartphone packs non-removable Li-Ion 2400mAh battery that can last two full days after charging once.

Sony Xperia C4 sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920p) IPS display. Powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core (Cortex-A53) MediaTek MT6752 processor backed by 2GB RAM running Android 5.0 lollipop. The phone comes with 16GB internal storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. It packs 2600mAh battery which delivers up to 12 hours 47 minutes of talk time and up to 682 hours of standby time, as claimed by the company.

The phone sports a 13MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash and 5MP front camera with front flash for selfies. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Wi-Fi Hotspot, 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth 4.1, and aGPS.

Micormax launches YU Yuphoria: Smartphone comes with 4G, metal frame, 2GB Ram and CyanogenMod OS 12 at just Rs. 6,999

Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax added a new smartphone to it's YU Yureka family which comes with CyanogenMod OS installed in them- YU Yuphoria.  The new YU Yuphoria will costs RS 6,999 and available in black with buffed steel and white with champagne gold color option. 

The new Yuphoria has a metal frame which definitely look great giving the smartphone an expensive look. The Yuphoria is just 8.25mm thick and weighs 143gms. However, holding the device in hand feels bulky. The back of the smartphone has a saturn ring type design (Rahul Sharma emphasised a lot about it in the presentation).

The Yu Yuphoria sports a 5 inch HD (1280x720) IPS display with the pixel density of 294ppi. The screen is protected by the Cornering Gorilla Glass 3 and has used full lamination technology for better reading in sunlight.

The phone is powered by 64 bit 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of ram driven by Adreno 306 graphics giving ultimate performance in that budget price. The phone runs on highly customisable build of latest Android 5.0.2 lollipop (CyanogenMod 12) OS installed. The phone comes with 16GB onboard storage which can expanded upto 32GB via micro sd card. 

The smartphone packs 2230mAh battery and comes with quick charging which can let the phone's battery go form 0 to 65% in 45min. In the terms of connectivity, the dual-sim phone supports 4G LTe Bands, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n,Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, FM Radio, USB v2.0, 6-axis gyroscope and an electronic compass.

The Yuphoria gets bump from 13MP to 8MP camera (capable of shoooting 1080p videos) at the back with Led flash and 5MP high resolution front selfie camera.

Micromax YU Yuphoria is really a good deal you can buy at that much budget price and has more specs than the other smartphones avaialable in that price range.

Whatsapp Material Design Interface now officially avialable on Play Store

Few weeks ago, we've talked about new Material designed whatsapp for the android but the update was not put on the Play Store due to some bugs have to be fixed but finally the world's famous instant messaging app is now gets official update on the Play Store. Things get changed with the update

• The new design integrates so well with the stock Android user interface in Lollipop that the app looks like a system app, similar to the Contacts or Dialler app created by Google.
• The general layout of the app now has a refreshing deep green title merges with the three tabs for calls, chats and contacts. 
• The chat window comes with new buttons to record voice messages, and also made available in attachment option pop-up.
• The tray holding the emoji icons has a different colour now while all the emojis remains same as previous.
• The recording button next to the message box now has a green background 
• The attachment icon in a chat window having list of options - Gallery, Photos, Video, Audio, Location, and Contact, now pops up with transition. Also these icons have got a facelift with the black colour in the background changed to grey.

Lenovo A5000 and P70 with massive 4000mAh battery launches

 

Seems like Lenonvo beefs up it's smartphone portfolio with the addition of A5000 and P70 smartphones having big capacity batteries. The Lenovo A5000 is priced at Rs. 9,999 while the P70 costs Rs. 15,999. The A5000 will be comes in both black and white colors while the P70 will only be available in deep blue color.

Both the smartphone packs massive 4000mAh of battery which can lasts upto 3 days and more on normal usage.  

The Lenovo A5000 sports a 5 inch 720p IPS display with the special nano coating that makes it resistant to splashes. It is powered by 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor coupled wtih 1GB of ram. It comes with 8MP sensor with Auto focus and Led Flash at the back and 2MP selfie camera.

The dual sim phone comes with 8GB onboard storage which is expandable upto 32GB via micro sd card. The device runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat upgradeable to Android 5.0 lollipop with Lenvo Vibe UI skin.

Micromax launches new calling tablet running Android 5.0 lollipop at Rs. 6,999

Domestic smartphone manufacturer Micromax has launched a new 7-inch budget Android calling tablet- Canvas Tab P480 at Rs 6,999. The tablet will be available starting last week of April in blue and white colors.

The new P480 sports a 7-inch (1024x600p) IPS display and powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core chip backed by 1GB of RAM.The budget table comes with 8GB internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 32GB capacity. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat upgradable to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). 

The tablet features a 5MP rear camera (support for 720p video capture) with Led flash and a 2MP front-facing camera. It packs a 3000mAh battery and the company claims the tablet will offer up to 9 hours talk time and 169 hours of standby time on 2G. In terms of connectivity, Canvas Tab P470 supports 3G for both voice calling and data (dual-sim), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. 

The tablet comes pre-loaded with apps such as Hello TV, Quicklook, and Truecaller in addition to Micromax's own app and content stores.

Micromax launches a cheap smartphone Canvas Spark at Rs 4,999 running Android 5.0 lollipop

Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax is known for making high performance devices at reasonable prices. Recently, the company has launched a very cheap smartphone Canvas Spark runs on Android 5.0 lollipop out of the box and priced at just Rs. 4,999 available in white/gold or silver//grey colors.

Talking about design, the phone has very slim and premium look smartphone. The phone measures 8.5mm in thickness and feels really good to hold. The edges of the phone has a metallic coating giving it some sheen. Micromax gives a lollipop style capacitive buttons for navigation but without backlit making it difficult to use it in dark.

The new Canvas Spark sports a 4.7 inch QHD (540x960p) IPS LCD display protected by Cornering Gorilla Glass 3. The display has descent viewing angles but not that good in direct sunlight. The warm colors of the display looks very pleasant. Overall screen is good and thankfully not over-saturated.

The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 Quad-Core processor driven by Mali-400 graphics backed by 1GB of ram. It comes with 8GB of onboard storage expandable upto 32GB via SD Card. The phone is packed with 2000mAh of battery with the stand-by time of 355hrs.

In the terms of connectivity, the dual sim phone comes with 3G connectivity, Wi-FI 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio, A-GPS and USB v2.0. In the performance, Antutu scored it at 19,499 and GeekBench scored it 5,494.

The device sports 8MP rear camera with an Led flash capable of shooting 720p video and 2MP of selfie camera. The low light shots are not much good in both front and rear. The video captured by device is fine but have under exposure issues. Check out sample of the rear camera

The phone is extremely affordable and have very good design which increase grace of the phone. The phone is competing with Moto E 2nd Gen, Xiaomi Redmi 2 like handsets. Ofcourse these handsets provides  lot better perfomance but the new Spark costs you Rs. 1500 less.

Whatsapp for Android finally gets a Material Design interface: Here's how to get it

Worldwide popular cross-platform WhatsApp has released it's latest build (Version 2.12.41) with a new layout design and fresh icons for Android smartphones. Whatsapp is still working on this new app as the update is not yet available on the Play Store. However it is now available on company's official website. Users can download and install the manually and get the redesigned WhatsApp activated on their phone. 

The minimum requirements to get started with the new update is smartphone running Android version 2.1 or above. No new permissions are required for an update.Tablet users won't get any update yet.

Motorola launches 4G variant of Moto E 2nd Gen in India for $128 (approx Rs. 7,999)

Motorola has finally announced their 4G capable version of the Moto E 2nd gen in India and available exclusively for pre-order on e-commerce site Flipkart.

The device is priced Rs. 1000 expensive than the 3G only version of the Moto E 2nd gen. If order today, Flipkart will deliver it by April 28.

The new 4G variant of the smartphone has same features as 3G version instead of the chipset. The new Moto E 2nd gen is powered by 64 bit 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor backed by 1GB of ram running Android 5.0 lollipop.

Other features are 4.5 inch QHD (540x960) IPS display protected by Conerning Gorilla Glass 3. The device comes with 5MP rear camera and VGA front facing camera, 8GB onboard storage with expandability upto 32GB.
