ASUS EeeBook X205 Review

Asus was a major player when it comes to notebooks, with the line of EeePC's machines. It is a super-compact notebooks gained prominence, majorly due to their affordable price since 2007, before being entirely killed off by the rise of tablets and cheaper, fully fledged laptops.

Asus has taken pains to ensure the X205 is as slim and portable as possible. The device sports 11.6-inch display with the resolution of 1366x768 panel, Thanks to it's small screen you will not much pixilization but viewing angles are not very wide and colours distort when you don't look at the display head-on. It has a depth of 17.5mm depth and weighs 980g. The screen lacks the touchscreen which is not a big deal but the problem compounded when you consider the Windows 8.1 operating system, which was designed to be prodded on touch-capable screens.

The laptop is powered by an Intel Atom Z3735 1.33GHz processor backed up by 2gb of ram which is the commonly used processor which being used in budget windows tablet. Performance wise it is very satisfied while using the device for light devices.

The Eeebook comes with 32gb of storage of which around 20gb is available which is not sufficient but Asus is also offering 500gb of cloud storage. But in markets like India web storage cannot replace local storage as in India internet connectivity is still not ubiquitous. Other specs are- A charging port, SD card reader, micro HDMI port and a 3.5mm headset jack and the edge port it sports two USB ports.

The EeeBook will be available in white, black, red and gold options and has been priced at $265 (approx Rs.15000). This is a better option compared to Chromebooks that are powered by Google's Chrome OS as the latter rely more on internet connectivity even for performing some basic tasks.
