On thursday, Twitter unveiled its live streaming app called Periscope developed by a company. The app is acquired under $100 million earlier this year. It's a big bet for an app that's in a style that already has matured, but Twitter is counting on the mobile world's appetite for more video.
Periscope is just like Meerkat app launched few weeks ago with the help of which you can share livestreams from your phone. But Periscope app added a little addition of letting you save your feeds. If you want to share the moment from your phone (and save it for later), this is the app you want.
Periscope also includes another solid feature which is private streaming, where you can share your livestream with a select few.
About 80 percent of Twitter's active users are on mobile devices. With Facebook calling mobile the future of its business, and Microsoft proclaiming it's a "mobile first, cloud first" world, the whole industry is looking to gain a foothold in the arena of smart things that move with people: tablets, smartwatches, smartbands and smartphones.
Periscope requires a Twitter account to use and If you've already entered your Twitter login information into iOS, you can join up with just a few taps. Just Like Meerkat, this livestreaming app is currently available on iPhone only.
